A cartridge like the one shown in Fig.14 is out of ink and, therefore, needs to be replaced.
Obtain a new ink jet cartridge and repeat the steps described in the section “Cleaning the HP 51604 ink
jet cartridge”.
Remove the ink jet cartridge
when transporting the unit and
when the unit is not used for
long periods.
In case the scanner is not used
regularly, periodically clean the
ink jet nozzles with absorbent
paper.
