Installation & Assembly

Instructions for Applying Your Decal
NOTE!
If your walls are textured or you have used low-VOC paint, see following page first.
Adhesion issues will occur if instructions are not followed. Do not attempt to install your
decal before following these guidelines. Please contact us with any questions.
Step 1: ACCLIMATE DECAL
Allow your decal to acclimate to it's environment. At least 48 hours prior to installation,
place your decal in the room that it's to be installed in. This allows the decal to shrink or
expand (acclimate) to the humidity and temperature in your home, before being placed on
your wall. If you have recently painted, allow 72+ hours for the paint to outgas / cure
before installing your decal.
Step 2: CLEAN WALL
Use a warm damp cloth to wipe down the surface and let it dry at least 24 hours before
installation. DO NOT use soap or cleaning agents. They can make your decal stick poorly.
Step 3: GET HELP
Given the size of our decals, it’s best to install with two people.
Step 4: ALIGN DECAL AND SQUEEGEE LEFT SIDE ONTO WALL
Remove the scored center strip of backing paper from the decal. DO NOT REMOVE THE
ENTIRE BACKING PAPER - ONLY THE CENTER SCORED STRIP. Once you've decided
where you want your decal located, and have ensured that it's level, lightly affix the center
of the decal to the wall. Temporarily tape right end of decal to the wall with masking tape,
as you'll be working on the left-hand side first.
Once the decal is in position, start at the center of the decal and carefully peel
approximately 12 inches of backing paper from the center towards the left. Work the
squeegee at a 45 angle, horizontally pushing the air out from behind the decal, towards
the backing paper. Once you get within 2 to 3 inches of the backing paper, peel another
foot of backing away. Repeat above process until you reach the end of the decal. If you
make a mistake, gently peel the decal off the wall and reposition it. Take your time and
you'll do just fine. See supplemental "technique" page for additional guidance.
Step 5: SQUEEGEE RIGHT SIDE ONTO WALL
Repeat process from Step #4 to adhere the right side of the decal onto the wall.
TIP: Use hair dryer on low heat to help work bubbles out, if they appear.
TIP: On difficult bubbles, pop with safety pin or sewing needle. Squeegee air our towards
the open hole.
TIP: See the "About" section on our Etsy page for a time-lapse video of the installation
process.
