5 Lift the print head assembly to the upright position.
Note: The printer in this photo is equipped with the newer style print head, with an extra
attached ribbon cable. This same print head is also used in Unimark’s ET6000 Bag Tag Printer.
6 Grip the stock firmly from the rear of the unit and remove it.
7 Remove the two Allen-wrench screws holding the brass mounting plate (with attached print
head) to the raised print head assembly.
Note: Newer model 8500 printers have thumb screws rather than Allen-wrench screws.
8 Remove the power and interface cables from the print head.
9 Remove the two screws holding the brass mounting plate to the back of the thermal print head.
10 Locate new print head. Re-install the brass mounting plate to the back of the new print head.
11 Re-install the power and interface cables to the new print head.
12 Using the Allen wrench, re-install the brass mounting plate (with attached print head) to the
raised print head assembly.
13 Lower the print head assembly, making sure to securely latch it back into position.
