2.3.4 Resetting the 8500’s Stock Counter
To reset the printer’s stock counter to 0 (zero), complete the following steps:
Step Action
1Press ONLINE to switch the printer offline.
2Press MENU.
3Press the Down Arrow key until the following is displayed:

SERVICE FUNCTIONS
4Press ENTER. The following message is displayed:
SERVICE FUNCTIONS
PASSWORD
Note: In the next series of steps, you will be entering the password 0123.
5Press ENTER. You will see four (4) zeros displayed, the first of which is flashing.
6Press ENTER. The second 0 (zero) begins flashing. Press the Up Arrow key one time and the
second 0 (zero) now becomes a 1 (one).
7Press ENTER. The third 0 (zero) begins flashing. Press the Up Arrow key two times and the
third 0 (zero) now becomes a 2 (two).
8Press ENTER. The fourth 0 (zero) begins flashing. Press the Up Arrow key three times and the
fourth 0 (zero) now becomes a 3 (three).
9Press EXIT. The message PASSWORD ACCEPTED will display momentarily and then the
following message is displayed.

10 Press the Down Arrow key until the following message is displayed:

11 Press ENTER. Press the Down Arrow key until the following message is displayed:

12 Press ENTER. Press the Down Arrow key until the following message is displayed:

13 Press ENTER. The following message is displayed:
