2.2.1 Front Panel Operations: Online and Offline
The Unimark 8500 printer has two modes of operation: Online and Offline. When online, the printer prints
bag tags as requested by the host system. The offline mode allows an operator to query the printer’s status,
modify operational parameters, and test and maintain the printer.
The online button transitions the printer between online and offline modes. The printer will not operate in
the online mode if an alarm condition exists.
2.2.2 Operator’s Control Panel Operations
The operator’s control panel is the interface between the printer and the operator. The panel is used to
select the printer’s online and offline operations, print configuration coupons, select printer functions, and
display messages and status. The panel is divided into three sections:
• Message Display Area
• Indicator Lights (LED)
• Control Keypad
