Metrobility-LANCAST Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) Solutions
Metrobility-LANCAST’s Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) solution includes multiplexing, de-multiplexing and Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer
(OADM) functionality with remote optical network access units (ONU). This solution combines the broad range of capabilities of passive optical CWDM
technology with Radiance line cards and superior network element management through NetBeacon® Element Manager to achieve maximum flexibility,
scalability and manageability. This combination creates a robust and flexible managed point-to-point or ring network solution and is ideal for applications
where dedicated bandwidth, enhanced diagnostics and a secure PON connection are required. The CWDM network provides a cost-effective “no new
fiber upgrade” solution for adding a new Gigabit Ethernet service backhaul for the new broadband services. Metrobility’s CWDM solutions allow users to
increase the capacity of existing fiber by utilizing widely spaced, separate wavelengths based on the ITU G.694.2 standard (between 1310nm and
1610nm) within the same fiber pair. These CWDM solutions can support up to sixteen (16) different channels, each carrying up to 1Gbps of bandwidth
and is accomplished through the expansion port on the 4-channel multiplexer.
The expansion port allows additional unique wavelengths to be combined on a single fiber pair by 'chaining' multiplexers prior to the final network
connection."Drop & Add" and "Drop & Pass" OADM modules provide the ability to terminate (“Drop”) one or more of the wavelengths from the fiber locally
and allows the other wavelengths to continue (“Pass”) to other nodes. Similarly, the “Drop and Add” ability allows a wavelength to be added (“Add”)
from a local fiber interface and allows the other wavelengths to continue (“Pass”) to other nodes. Metrobility's managed CWDM solution utilizes a
Metrobility® line card with wavelength-specific SFP pluggable optics configured in an LCR5000 chassis with a management card. All of Metrobility's
CWDM products are NEBS Level 1 certified.

Metrobility-LANCAST Radiance Services Line Card (SLC)
Metrobility-LANCAST's Radiance Services Line Card (SLC) provides an intelligent optical Ethernet demarcation point for deploying Ethernet services in
the First Mile. The SLC extends baseline VLAN technologies to enable delivery of multiple, converged end-user services across the first-mile, optical
access network. As the CPE demarcation point, the Services Line Card supports the IEEE 802.3ah standard for operations, administration and
maintenance (OAM) of Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM). The EFM/OAM standard enables IP-less remote failure indicators including Dying Gasp, frame level
loopback, event notification (errored frame seconds) and MIB polling. The Services Line Card also supports Internet-standard management. SNMP can
be used for surveillance and fault management, while PING can be used for reachability and latency measurement. Carrier-class management access
control protects against denial of service on the management channel.
