6.8 Replacement of the GoldTrap
The GoldTrap requires replacement if the slope of the calibration curve is below 0.00004. A new
GoldTrap (part No. 830-11) will be inserted instead of the used one which may be returned to the
manufacturer for regeneration.
Pull power plug before opening the photometer!
First loosen the two screws in the back of the UT-3000 photometer unit and remove top cover of
the case. Do not pull with force as an ground wire is mounted to the cover. The ground wire can
be disconnected by pulling the plug on one end. The GoldTrap is now visible.
Identify the power supply cable of the GoldTrap and disconnect it by pulling the small plug.
Carefully disconnect the tubing at the gas inlet and gas outlet of the GoldTrap (see picture
below). Try to push the end of the tubing with fingernails instead of pulling the tubing. Try to
balance force to both sides of the GoldTrap and avoid to pull the thin brown coloured ceramic
tube to one side, it should always stay centred.
After the plug and the tubing have been disconnected the GoldTrap can be removed from its
holding clamps and the new GoldTrap can be inserted. After that the tubing are connected to the
GoldTrap again and the cable is plugged in.
