Have a look at file on spare parts for sprint F1 and look at Mod Hornet picture.
If you are having trouble with the flexi shaft on this out board leg then I have finally come up with
the cure.
The problem.
The bronze shaft bushing is actually copper. So when shaft gets warm it welds to the actual drive
shaft. This would cause the shaft to go stiff. Cause the motor to strain and the motor to chatter and
sometimes burn out. Also cases the flexi-shaft to snap.
Also the water cooling plate is too thick to cool outrunner motors
The cure.
Undo the copper shaft and cut 20mm off the end. . Just enough to be able to screw it back in.
Drill through the front of it 5mm of 4.2-4.5mm diameter hole at a depth of 4mm. This will stop the
shaft from welding. Purchase from e-bay store sellers852 Part number P318. These are bushings
and put 2 of these into the bottom housing that the drive shaft comes out. Then screw back in you
modified copper bushing. Remember it is a left hand thread. Bobs your uncle it is perfect.
I have also modified the cowling per picture. Making a mould using the original motor cowling and
extending it up wards level with the hornets cover. It is running a leopard 3400kv 2860 inrunner
motor on a cooling jacket on the same set up as above. Doing the modified version gives you any
number of motor combinations. This set up on 14.8volt is doing 66kph. I had no problems with this
set up on the drive system.
