WALKING ON YOUR STILTS

WORKSITE INSPECTION

Perform a jobsite inspection to be sure it is free of any trip

hazards including extension cords, spilled liquids, or general

debris. Your worksite should not have any open stairwells,

vents, or windows that would present a fall or trip hazard.

SAFE STILT USE

Users are encouraged to attend a training class on the

safe use of stilts.

MOUNTING AND DISMOUNT

Dismount and mount your stilts with the help of a colleague

using a work platform with suitable height and surface area.

Do not attempt to jump off the stilts to the ground. Select a

platform of adequate size and capacity to mount your stilts.

With the help of a colleague strap on your stilts.

Stand with your stilts and adjust your balance. Use short

deliberate steps while your are practicing walking and

working on these stilts.

REACHING AND WALKING PRECAUTION

Take short steps to keep your stilts well balanced beneath

your legs. Never over-extend your reach or steps with your

feet or arms when wearing stilts.

INSPECTING YOUR STILTS ADJUSTMENT Inspect your stilts prior to every use. Check for worn or damaged parts and replace with genuine SUR-STILT® parts. Tighten but do not overtighten any loose nuts, wing bolts, or screws. STRAPS & LACES QUESTIONS? NEED HELP? MAINTENANCE LUBRICATION Keep all pivot points and adjustment joints clean and lubricated. Lubricate lightly when necessary with a silicone or graphite based lubricants. Use water only for clean-up of stilts. Keep soles clean and free of lubricants or any debris which could cause slippage. ADJUSTMENT SIDE POLES AND LEG BANDS 1. Position side pole assembly facing forward with each side pole straddling the stilt. Slide the side pole holders (H171) into position between each metal side pole bracket (H131).
