SDS
General information
If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible). Show this safety data
sheet to the doctor in attendance.
5. Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media
Water. Water spray. Foam. Dry powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2).
Unsuitable extinguishing
media
No restrictions known.
Specific hazards arising from
the chemical
During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed.
Special protective equipment
and precautions for firefighters
Wear full protective clothing, including helmet, self-contained positive pressure or pressure
demand breathing apparatus, protective clothing and face mask.
Fire fighting
equipment/instructions
Use water spray to cool unopened containers. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water
until well after fire is out. Prevent runoff from fire control or dilution from entering streams, sewers,
or drinking water supply.
General fire hazards
No unusual fire or explosion hazards noted.
6. Accidental release measures
Personal precautions,
protective equipment and
emergency procedures
Keep unnecessary personnel away. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages
cannot be contained. Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing during clean-up. See
Section 8 of the SDS for Personal Protective Equipment.
Methods and materials for
containment and cleaning up
Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Stop the flow of material, if
this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible.
Large Spills: Absorb spill with vermiculite or other inert material, then place in a container for
chemical waste. Following product recovery, flush area with water.
Small Spills: Wipe up spilled material and place in a suitable container for disposal. Clean surface
thoroughly to remove residual contamination.
Never return spills in original containers for re-use. This material and its container must be
disposed of as hazardous waste. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible.
Environmental precautions
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not contaminate water.
7. Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling
Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Wash thoroughly after
handling. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.
Conditions for safe storage,
including any incompatibilities
Keep container closed. Keep out of the reach of children.
8. Exposure controls/personal protection
Occupational exposure limits
No exposure limits noted for ingredient(s).
Biological limit values
No biological exposure limits noted for the ingredient(s).
Exposure guidelines
No exposure standards allocated.
Appropriate engineering
controls
General ventilation is normally adequate.
Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment
Eye/face protection
Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles).
Skin protection
Hand protection
For prolonged or repeated skin contact use suitable protective gloves.
Other
No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use. Wear suitable protective clothing and
gloves while handling in an industrial environment.
Respiratory protection
No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required. In case of insufficient ventilation,
wear suitable respiratory equipment.
Thermal hazards
Not applicable.
General hygiene
considerations
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.
9. Physical and chemical properties
Appearance
Clear amber liquid.
Physical state
Liquid.
