Architectural Form Advantages.
For maximum transmission of radiant energy, the ideal architectural form 
for a greenhouse is the hemispherical dome. The angle of incidence and 
the orientation are perfect at all hours of the day.
A greenhouse with sidewalls at an angle of 60 to 70 degrees from the 
horizontal and a roof with a slope of 30 degrees has been found to be more 
efficient for the transmission of radiant energy than a structure with the 
same roof slope but with vertical sidewalls (Whittle and Lawrence, 1959).
During mid-winter when the sun is relatively low above the horizon, the 
slanted sidewalls transmit more radiant energy
