4. Mounting preparations
The lamp may only be installed by a qualied technician who is familiar with the relevant
regulations (e.g. VDE, German electrical wiring regulations)!
Improper work carried out on the mains voltage endangers not only your life but also the
lives of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it yourself but
ask a qualied technician.
Note:
• Only install the product on a stable surface, e.g. masonry/wood. Use the appropriate screws and plugs for
the surface.
• The product must be set up and used out of the reach of children.
• The product must be secured on the customer’s subdistribution board with a 10/16A fuse. Before this an
earthleakagecircuitbreakermustbetted(FIprotectiveswitch).
• The product must be voltage-free during installation. It is not enough to just turn off the light switch!
Turn the power off while removing the corresponding electric circuit fuse or switch off the circuit breaker.
Assure it against an unauthorised re-start, e.g. with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains supply is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
5. Mounting
Pay attention to the information in chapter “Mounting preparations”!
1. Mark the surface where the product will be installed. Ensure a power cable is available at that location. Mark
the place for the screws as well.
Warning!
When drilling mounting holes or screwing down, ensure that no existing electrical cables,
gas or water pipes will be damaged.
2. Drill a mounting hole (ø35 mm) on the surface. Depending on the material of the surface (e.g. some rigid
surfaces such as masonry), you may need to drill holes and use plastic expansion plugs (not included).
3. Unscrew the screws on the terminal box with a Phillips head screwdriver. Open the terminal box.
4. Guide a mains power cable through the drilling hole. Use a rubber grommet (not included) to protect the
cable if necessary.
5. Connect the mains power cable to the product using the luster terminal (brown cable = L, blue cable = N,
green/yellow cable = PE/earth). The marking to show the correct alignment of the cables can be found on
the inside of the terminal box.
The protective earth of the lamp must be connected.
When the lamp is substituting another existing lamp and no protective earth conductor is
available, the exterior lamp must not be mounted. Lay a new feeder beforehand.
If no protective earth conductor is connected, the mains voltage could charge the metal
housing of the wall-mounted exterior lamp. There is the risk of a life-threatening electric
shock!
Make sure the cable is not stripped too far; this could also cause short-circuit or a similar
danger.
Check if the screwed fastenings of the cabling of the lamp itself are tight enough and if
not screw them down.
6. Put the terminal box behind the surface, fastening it with a suitable screw if necessary.
Make sure that the power cable inside the lamp is not squeezed or damaged with this!
7. Fasten the product on the surface with four suitable screws.
8. Insert an illuminant (socket GX53, max. 13 W) and turn it in clockwise direction.
If you use an illuminant with a higher capacity there is a risk of overheating and re
hazard!
9. Switch on the mains voltage again and make sure that the lamp is functioning.
If the illuminant in the lamp does not light up, switch off the mains voltage immediately
(take out the fuse or switch off the circuit breaker).
Subsequently check the connection of the lamp or the light bulb.
In case of doubt contact a professional (e.g. an electrician).
6. Replacing the illuminant
1. First switch off the mains voltage (take out the fuse or switch off the circuit breaker).
2. Lettheilluminantcooldownrst(burnhazard)andtakeitoutbyturningitinananti-clockwisedirection.
3. Insert a suitable illuminant (socket GX53, max. 13 W) into the required lampholder.
4. Switch on the mains voltage again and make sure that the lamp is functioning.
If you use an illuminant with a higher capacity there is a risk of overheating and re
hazard!
If the illuminant in the lamp does not light up, switch off the mains voltage immediately
(take out fuse or switch off circuit breaker).
Subsequently check the connection of the lamp or the light bulb.
In case of doubt contact a professional (e.g. an electrician).
7. Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
