open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying.
If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh air. If properly used, a respirator
(NIOSH approved for organic vapor with P series particulate pre-filter) may offer additional protection;
obtain professional advice before using. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Close container after each use.
FIRST AID: If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued
difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately
with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with
soap and water. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.

CAUTION: Surfaces may become slippery when wet. Use caution when walking on
surface when moisture is present.
WHERE TO USE
Uncoated and unsealed, properly prepared Interior or Exterior concrete surfaces
such as: Patios, Porches, Pavers, Walkways, Pool Decks*, Kitchens, Bedrooms
and other concrete floors. DO NOT use on areas subject to automotive tires.*Light
and pastel colored concrete stains should be used over pool deck surfaces. DARK
COLORS RETAIN HEAT.
PREPARATION † (Proper Surface Preparation is Required.)
• All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of any dirt, oil and grease.
• New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days.
• Use a paint stripper to remove any previous coatings or sealers.
• Clean and etch surface using a product such as a muriatic acid etcher (read and
follow all manufacturer’s label directions) to achieve a textured profile similar to
150 grit sandpaper.
• Wipe your fingers over the clean, dry floor to check for dust or powder. Ensure there
is no residue on your fingers that may have been left from the etcher. If residue is
found, rinse the surface to remove residue. Allow the surface to dry completely.
Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed and
the surface feels like 150 grit sandpaper, the surface is ready. If not, re-etch.
• Apply a product such as BEHR PREMIUM® No. 880 Concrete and Masonry
Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface. Follow all label
instructions.
APPLICATION
• DO NOT THIN.
• Intermix all cans of same product to ensure color uniformity.
• Stir stain before and occasionally during application. Use product when air and surface
temperatures are between 50-90° F (10-32° C).
• Do not apply in direct sunlight. Apply to dry concrete. Do not apply if rain or heavy dew is
expected within 24 hours.
• Apply stain in small concrete sections approximately 4’ by 4’. Work quickly and feather edges.
• Apply with a high quality pump sprayer with a fine spray setting using a circular motion.
Optional: If a more even, uniform appearance is desired, immediately backroll with a pad
applicator or 3/8” nap roller after spraying.
• Spread rate will vary depending on the porosity and texture of the surface.
• NOTE: The coating will likely lighten as it dries.
• Allow first coat to dry before deciding if a second coat is necessary. An additional coat will
provide a darker and more uniform color.
• Horizontal surfaces may be subject to premature wear. Periodic touch-ups may be necessary.
OPTIONAL TOPCOAT
• For added protection, use a product such as BEHR PREMIUM No. 985 Wet-Look
Sealer for a high-gloss finish or a product such as BEHR PREMIUM No. 986
Low-Lustre Sealer for a low-gloss finish.
• Allow stain at least 24 hours to dry before topcoating.
• NOTE: Do not use Wet-Look Sealer or Low-Lustre Sealer as a topcoat around pool
decks or other areas subject to consistent moisture. Follow all label instructions.
DRY TIME
• Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Allow
24 hours for light foot traffic.
• Allow 72 hours before repositioning planters or furniture.
• After 30 days, clean as needed with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent.
DISPOSAL
• Use soap and water. Properly dispose of all soiled rags and protect unused product
from freezing.
• To recycle or properly dispose of product in your community, contact your household
refuse collection service.
