Water hardness: Water is divided into three hardness ranges.
Hardness range Water hardness dH
soft < 8.4 °dH
medium 8.4 – 14 °dH
hard > 14 °dH
You can ask your local supplier for the water hardness. If you want to test the water hardness in your house yourself, test strips are
available from good drug stores.
Startup
After the device has been closed again and the coils are set, insert the plug into the mains power socket. Following the connection
to the 230V outlet, an automatic test program will run.
- First, all LED's except the “Error” LED will light up.
- Approximately 2 seconds later, the LED's will go off in the following order: Automatic, Pipe Care
5 kHz, 3 kHz and the “1 kHz” LED will flash. The startup test is now finished. The green power LED is illuminated continually.
Operation modes
In the switch position “Normal” the device works at the frequencies 1 kHz, 3 kHz and 5 kHz and in the switch position “pipe repair” at
the frequencies 5, 15 and 25 kHz. We recommend switch position “Normal” for soft to medium-hard water, and the switch position
“pipe repair” for hard water.
After carrying out an auto test, the device switches to the 1 kHz mode. When the Mode key is pressed, the device switches to the 3
kHz mode, and then to the 5 kHz mode when the key is pressed again. In this mode, the device is operating at the selected
frequency.
Pipe maintenance for soft to medium-hard water
For this purpose, the sliding switch must be at the “Normal” position. (For setting instructions see Pipe repair). First switch the
device to the 5 kHz mode, then press the mode key for approx. 2 seconds. The device switches to the pipe maintenance mode. The
yellow “pipe maintenance” LED lights up and the 1 kHz, 3 kHz and 5 kHz LED’s light up alternately. In this mode the frequency is
constantly changing between 1 kHz, 3 kHz and 5 kHz.
Pipe repair and pipe maintenance for hard water
To get to the pipe clean-up operating mode, it is necessary to open the device. Make sure you remove the mains plug from the
power supply before opening the device! You can now move the sliding switch, which is located in the middle of the device,
upwards from “Normal” to “Pipe clean-up”. After the housing has been closed again, the mains plug can be inserted in the mains
socket once more. Now put the device into 5kHz mode. Then press the mode button for approximately 2 seconds. The device now
switches into pipe clean-up operating mode. The LED display is identical for both pipe clean-up and pipe care.
In this operation mode the frequencies are 5 kHz, 15 kHz and 25 kHz, and the time sequence is reduced to a fifth.
The pipe clean-up operating mode should run uninterrupted for approximately 8 to 14 months. After expiry of this period, you should
set the switch to the “Normal” position. To do this, proceed as described above. In the switch position “Normal”, you can now
combat any renewed formation of limescale.
If the device is operated for longer than 14 months in the pipe repair mode, this will not damage the pipe system, but the efficiency
of the device (for soft to medium-hard water) is reduced.
Automatic mode
Regardless of the operating mode the device is in, press the mode key until the AUTOMATIC LED lights up. In this mode the
following program is started:
Switch position “Normal” Switch position “Pipe repair”
2 hours pipe maintenance 24 minutes pipe maintenance
5 days 1kHz mode 1 day 5kHz mode
2 hours pipe maintenance 24 minutes pipe maintenance
5 days 3kHz mode 1 day 15kHz mode
2 hours pipe maintenance 24 minutes pipe maintenance
5 days 5kHz mode 1 day 25kHz mode
After the program has been completed, the cycle will start again from the beginning.
Fault – If the “Fault” LED lights up, this indicates a short circuit in the coil. The most frequent causes for this fault are damaged coils
or contact of the coil end with the metal pipe.
