• After the RAID set is confi gured, exit the menu and restart the computer. The RAID set is now
available in Windows as a conventional hard disk, which must be partitioned and formatted.
For Windows, the combination of both hard disks (or of one SSD and a hard disk) appears as
one single drive.
☞
If the operating system must be installed on the RAID set (e.g. Windows 7), then
the booting sequence must be modifi ed in the BIOS/Setup for the computer/mother-
board or booting via an additional controller must be allowed.
The driver for the plug-in card must be integrated at the very beginning of the Win-
dows installation. You can fi nd further information in the manufacturer’s English op-
erating instructions.
Tips & Notes
• When creating a RAID set, any data that is already stored on the hard disks connected to the
RAID controller will be destroyed!
• The plug-in card also supports optical drives (e.g. DVD burner).
• If no RAID set is created, the connected hard disks run as conventional, individual hard disks.
In this case, the plug-in card functions as a conventional SATA controller without RAID.
