Attach the 1” x 6” - 8’ horizontal pickets. Starting at the bottom,
1” off the ground. Use 2” premium exterior screws at attachment
locations. Space 3/8” - 1/2” between pickets. Continue placing
the pickets to the top checking spacing and level.
Now it’s time to install the picket support. Attach a 2” x 3” in
the center location between posts. Then screw through the
picket into the 2x3. This will help to add additional stability,
support, and strength to your panel.
Menards offers a variety of accessories for your fence project
including post caps, post tops, and gate hardware. Visit a store
near you, or menards.com for details.
Add 1” x 6” - 12’ board at the location where the pickets
attach to the post to cover the seam. Trim the length of
the 12’ board, as needed. This will help keep a nice clean
look to the fence panel.
