Installation Instructions
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Cover the top of the Maxi-Ram and up onto the roof with a piece
of underlayment or water & ice shield. Apply a shingle starter
strip on top of the Maxi-Ram. Continue installing shingles to the
balance of the roof making sure that all shingles over hang the
Maxim-Ram by 1/2’’ (min.).
3 inches below the bottom of the
holes/slots, snap a chalk line. Apply a
bead of caulking 1 inch above the chalk
line (minimum ¼’’ bead).
Important: The Maxi-Ram will be sealed to
the roof using this bead of caulking so
depending on the style of shingles being
used, it may be required to increase the
width of the bead in order to prevent gaps
under the Maxi-Ram.
Install underlayment or water & ice shield
on the roof as usual, making sure to stop
at the holes/slots. Shingle installation
proceeds as normal, up to the holes/slots
(to avoid covering the holes/slots, trim as
needed).
36 inches above the drip edge, begin cutting a
series of 1’’ diameter holes or a 1’’ wide slot into the
roof deck. Do not cut the holes/slots any closer than
12 inches from the edges of the roof. Do not cut the
holes/slots any closer than 24 inches from any wall
or 36 inches from any valley.
Important: To avoid damaging trusses or rafters,
make sure the saw blade depth is set
appropriately.
Place the bottom edge of the Maxi-
Ram on the chalk line. Using the line
on the Maxi-Ram as your guide, nail
the vent to the roof every 12 inches
with 2’’ roofing nails.
Making sure that the roofing nails
are long enough to penetrate the
roof deck, nail the top edge of the
Maxi-Ram every 12 inches.
Continue installing the Maxi-Ram
sections the length of the roof. Maxi-
Ram sections should be installed a
minimum of 6 inches past the ends
of the slot.
