Step 1: Prepare the Site
Start by digging a shallow
trench 4 deep by 12 wide. Cut
through and remove any sod,
roots or large rocks. An optional
leveling pad of sand or crushed
stone can be installed to help
make leveling the base course
of units easier. Dig the trench a
minimum of 6 when installing
a leveling pad. Compact and
level the soil to receive the first
course of Insignia Wall.
Step 2: Set Base Course
If your wall contains both
straight and curved areas, start
with the straight area and build
into curves.
Place and level the first course
of Insignia Wall, chamfer up (see
photo). Level each additional
unit on the base course as you
place it, making sure that the
outside edges touch. Complete
the base course before
proceeding to the second
course.
Step 3: Fill
Always fill the unit channels with
crushed stone aggregate. Place
your compacted backfill soils
before proceeding to the next
course. Backfill should not be
compacted in more than 8 lifts.
Step 4: Pins
Each Insignia Wall unit requires
two Keystone pins. Pins should
easily fit into pin holes and align
parallel with the front and back
of the unit.

Step 5: Stack
Center each Insignia Wall unit on the joint of the units
below to form a running bond pattern, as shown. Pins
from the lower course units will rest inside the front
open channel of the upper units being installed. Push
the upper unit forward until pin is flush with the inside
web of the unit. Please note, pins from lower course
are not designed to fit into the small holes in the
bottom of the upper unit (please see image left.)
Step 6: Cap
To give the project
a polished look,
finish the project
with the Insignia
Cap. Secure
the cap in place
with concrete
adhesive.
