England’sStoveWorksalwaysrecommendstheuseofasmokedetectorandcarbonmonoxide
detectorwithanywoodstove.Carbonmonoxideisanodorless,colorlessgaswhichcanbe
deadly.Installingacarbonmonoxidedetectorandbeingawareofthesymptomsofcarbon
monoxidepoisoningcanhelpreducetheriskofcarbonmonoxiderelatedissues.
Cooking:
Oneoftheexcellentfunctionsofthiscampstoveisforcooking,andtheoffsetflueenablesas
muchcookingspaceaspossible.
CAUTION:RememberthatthetopofthestovewillgetveryHOT.
Useapanforcookingfoodonthetopofyourstove.Donotcookfooddirectlyonthestove
top.Ifyoufindthatyoumustcookdirectlyonthestovetop,youshouldplacethefoodona
pieceofstainlesssteel(forrustprevention)thatcanberemovedandwashed,whenfinished.If
rustingdoesoccurovertime,youmayorderareplacementhigh‐temperaturespraypaintfrom
England’sStoveWorkstorepaintyourunit(seeMaintenance,below).
MAINTENANCE
AshRemoval:Inspectthefireboxdailyforashaccumulation,andtoinsurethefirebrick(orthe
BottomSaversteelinsert)areinplaceandnotdamaged.
“Ashesshouldbeplacedinametalcontainerwithatightfittinglid.Theclosedcontainerof
ashesshouldbeplacedonanoncombustiblefloorortheground,wellawayfromall
combustiblematerials,pendingfinaldisposal.Iftheashesaredisposedofbyburialinsoilor
otherwiselocallydispersed,theyshouldberetainedintheclosedcontaineruntilallcinders
havebeenthoroughlycooled.”
CAUTION:Keepafireextinguisherhandyatalltimes,includingduringashcleanup.
Remembertostorethestovewithashescleanedfromthefirebox,orprematurerustand
degradationofthefireboxwilloccur.
Asmallopencontainerofadesiccant(i.e.catlitter)inthestovecanhelppreventcorrosion
whenthestoveisnotbeingused;becertaintoremoveitbeforetransportingthestoveor
buildingafire.
