Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
Inhalation
If adverse effects occur, remove to uncontaminated area. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. If
breathing is difficult, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel. Move person to fresh air. If
person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably by mouth-to-
mouth, if possible. Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice.
Skin
Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a
poison control center or doctor for treatment advice. Wash all affected skin areas with warm soapy
water. Skin contact causes photosensitization which can last for 36-72 hours after exposure. Keep out of
direct sunlight for the next two to three days to avoid sunburn to the photosensitized skin areas. Use a
broad spectrum blockout cream to protect against UV alpha ray exposure. Get medical attention, if
needed.
Eyes
Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if
present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for
treatment advice.
Ingestion
Call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Do not induce vomiting unless
told to do so by the poison control center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious or
convulsive person. If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage. Vomiting may cause aspiration
pneumonia.
