Typical P3 Floor Joist Framing and Construction Details
All nails shown in the details below are assumed to be common nails unless otherwise noted. 10d box nails
(0.128 x 3”) may be substituted for 8d common (0.131 x 2-1/2”) as shown in details. Individual components are
not shown to scale for clarity.
Do not bevel-cut joist beyond inside face of wall.
Attach P3 Joist per 2b.
Multiple P3 Joist headers with full depth filler block is shown. Glulam and multiple SCL headers
may also be used. Verify double P3 Joist capacity to support concentrated loads.
Attach backer block per 1h. Nail with twelve 10d nails. Clinch when possible
Install hanger per manufacturer’s recommendations.
Maximum support capacity is 1280 lbs.
