Signal light and call progress
The signal light and display screen show you what is happening on
the telephone line.
After you dial a telephone number, you will see the signal light
(upper left corner), the telephone number that you dialed and either
*** RING *** or *** BUSY *** on the display screen:
When the signal light...
Stays on you have a dial tone.
Slowly blinks the other telephone is ringing.
Quickly blinks the other telephone is busy.
Flickers the other person answered with voice.
Dialing tips
To re-dial the last number that you called, press the key
and then press the key.
In an office, use a (9) or another number to obtain an outside
line. The exact method of dialing will depend on your telephone
system. Dialing on a TTY should be the same as dialing on a
telephone.
Use a comma (,) to place a two-second pause during dialing.
For long distance, include a 1 and the area code.
Use an exclamation point (!) for a hook flash. A hook flash is
used in some voice mail systems or to transfer a call.
You cannot use * and # with pulse dialing.
