To use the Control key, hold it down and press any one of the keys shown in black above.
Using the Control and Escape Keys
The Control key . To use a function, you hold down the
key and press one of the keys with a label above it. These keys are
shown in black below. When you hold down the key, you
change the keys that have labels above them into function keys.
The Escape key . This key always changes the display back to
the Conversation screen after you use a function. For example, after
setting the time, press the key to return to the Conversation
screen.

Special Characters
The @#%^&*_<> characters will not show up on the display of
the Compact/C when you are using Baudot code or during a cellular
call. These characters cannot be sent or received in Baudot code.
They work only when you use Turbo Code
®
(see Using Turbo Code on
page 26 for more information).
