Intended Use This Ultra-Two XTP Series Auto-Locking Trailer Coupler features an auto locking system that is austempered ductile iron with a steel lock assembly. The primary lock has a safety clip and is designed for an off-the-shelf padlock. No adapter is needed. This hitch can be used with any 2 5/16” ball hitch. Technical Specifications Property Max. WORK AREA SAFETY Inspect the work area before each use. Keep work area clean, dry, free of clutter, and well-lit. Cluttered, wet, or dark work areas can result in injury. Using the coupler in confined work areas may put you dangerously close to cutting tools and rotating parts. Keep children and bystanders away from the work area while operating the coupler. Do not allow children to handle the product.
To prevent serious injury or property damage, read and understand the owner’s manual. Do not exceed lowest rated load capacity in hitch system. Maintain an adequate vertical down (tongue) load to maintain control of the trailer (generally 10%) without exceeding the specified rated capacities. Other steps and inspections are also required. Consult OSHA, D.O.T. regulations, and the American Trucking Association for complete coupling and uncoupling procedures.
Operating Instructions ⚠WARNING It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the hitch bracket is capable of a 3,500 lbs. vertical load and a 22,000 lbs. gross trailer weight. Before operating, inspect the unit for proper operation, worn, damaged, or missing parts. 2. Unlock by removing the safety pin & flip the primary lock forward. 3.
Locked Position The illustration above is in the locked position with the safety clip installed. Insure the lock assembly is in the unlock position before hooking up. Un-Hitching 1. Unlock by removing the safety pin. 2. Flip the secondary lock forward until it is pointing up. Secondary Lock Now you can jack-up the coupler until it clears the hitch ball. The unit is back to the unlock position, as shown in the illustration above.
Maintenance Interval Maintenance Point The following should be performed every 10,000 miles or 6 months: 1. Inspect for proper operation. 2. Inspect, in particular, the coupling area. Replace when the wear exceeds 1/8” from the original surface profile. 3. Inspect for worn, damaged, and missing parts. Replace as required. 4. Always use a safety clip. 5. Check the ball’s torque specification after the first 200 miles of towing and every 400 miles after that.
