BO LUS PRO FILE
The Bolus Rate profile is used to infuse a defined dose of fluid controlled either by total volume or by the
total time the pump operates. Bolus profiles are used for infusion only. In a bolus profile, you set either the
time the pump operates or the total volume to be delivered. The pump automatically defaults to the
maximum pump speed based on the syringe selected, but it can be modified when defining the Step
parameters. The flow rate is constant during a Bolus Rate profile.

When creating or editing a Bolus Rate profile, you will define the following operating parameters:
• The Flow Rate at which the pump will operate. Although the pump automatically defaults to the
maximum flow rate based on the syringe being used, you can modify this parameter as desired.
• The Target Time value which is the total time the pump will operate or the Target Volume to be
infused.
When creating or editing a Bolus Rate profile, you can set the rate in ml, µl, nl or pl units of volume using
sec, min or hr as the units of time.

TO SET UP/EDIT A BOLUS RATE PROFILE:
1. From the Step Definition screen for a Bolus Rate profile, choose the Set Rate button to enter the Set
Bolus Rate screen.
2. Enter the flow rate value desired using the keypad. Note that the system automatically defaults to the
maximum allowable rate based on the syringe currently specified for use in the Method.
3. If the Units of Rate are not correct for your application, choose the Units button.
