Setting the Force Limits
The PHD ULTRA
motor generates up to 75 lbs of linear force in operation. This force is sufficient to
damage delicate, low-volume syringes, as well as many standard syringes if pumping viscous fluids. The
application software provides controls to allow you to set a maximum force value (calculated as a
percentage of the maximum value).
Figure 13: Set Force Level screen.
TO ADJUST THE MAXIMUM FORCE SETTING:
1. From the Quick Start or Method Main screen, choose the Settings button.
2. From the Settings menu, choose the Force button to enter the Set Force Level screen.
3. Select the desired preset level value or use the Set Other Value button to enter a custom force level.
4. If you select Set Other value, enter the desired force setting as a percentage value (1-100%) then
choose Accept to confirm your setting.
5. When you have selected or entered the desired force value, choose Accept to return to the Settings
menu.
NOTE: A minimum value of approximately 30% is required to overcome friction forces
in the mechanism. You may have to set the Force Level to a higher value depending on
the backpressure/friction in your system.
