For B/W images, adjusting the brightness of a prescan image is actually setting a threshold for the scanner sensors to interpret
the scanned data. Data above the threshold will be interpreted as the white area, while data below the threshold as the dark area.
Contrast
Contrast refers to the differences in the brightness between the light areas and the dark areas of
an image. The larger the contrast value, the higher the differentiation between the light and the
dark areas. Contrast is indicated in percentage ranging from ¡V100 to +100, and is set to "0" as
the default. You can either use the scroll bar (moving the box, clicking the arrow icons or clicking
on the space between the box and the icon), key in the value into the number box or select a
value in its drop-down combo box to change the value.
