Air condit ioning and any relat ed heat exhaust duct s should be in place before continuing wit h t he
inst allat ion of the Translat or.
Please inspect the Cabinet and all other m at erial t horoughly upon arrival. Axcera certifies that
upon leaving our facilit y t he equipm ent was undam aged and in proper working order. The shipping
cont ainers should be inspected for obvious dam age that is indicative of rough handling. Check for
dent s, scratches, broken swit ches, m et ers or connect ors. Any claim s against in- t ransit dam age
should be direct ed to t he Carrier. Also please inform Axcera as to the extent of the dam age.
Rem ove t he Cabinet wit h Trays, UHF Tee Assem bly, Bandpass Filt er, (Optional) Trap Filt er,
Direct ional Coupler and I nstallat ion Mat erial t hat m ake up t he 836A from the crat es and boxes.
Rem ove t he straps which hold t he Cabinet t o the shipping skid and slide t he Cabinet from t he skid.
Rem ove the plast ic wrap and foam protect ion from around t he Cabinet. Do not rem ove any
labeling or t ags from any cables or connectors, for t hese are for identification m arkers which m ake
reassem bly of the Translat or as easy as possible.
Rem ove t he four L-brackets, m ount ed on the front panel rails, which hold t he Trays in place during
shipm ent . The Trays are m ounted in the cabinet using Chassis Trak cabinet slides. The Tray
Slides are on the Top and Bott om of the UHF Am plifier Trays and on t he sides of the UHF Excit er
Tray and the VHF/ UHF Receiver Tray. I nspect for any loose hardware or connectors, tightening
where needed. Open the rear door, t he key to t he lock, if present , is found in a t an envelope
taped to the door, and inspect t he int erior for packing m at erial. Carefully rem ove any packing
m at erial that is found. Slowly slide each Tray in and out t o verify t hat t hey do not rub against
each other and have no rest rict ion t o free m ovem ent . Caut ion : Each UHF Am plifie r Tra y ha s a

rem ovin g t his connect ion. To pull t he t ra y ou t for t e st purposes, use t he e x t e nde r coa x ial
cable inclu ded in t he inst a lla t ion m a t er ia l kit for con n e ct ion from t h e t r a y t o t he ou t put
cable .
Adj ust m ent s t o t he posit ion of the Trays m ay be necessary, and are accom plished by loosening
the cabinet slide m ounting bolt s t hat hold t he front of t he slide to t he m ount ing fram e of the
Cabinet and m oving the Tray up or down as needed t o correct for the rubbing.
The air intake t o the 2 kW Translat or is intended for room air only. The cabinet should be
posit ioned wit h consideration taken for adequat e air int ake and exhaust , t he opening of the rear
door, access to the Trays including sliding them out for t esting, the Main AC Hook- Up and t he
inst allat ion of the Output Transm ission Line. The Cabinet should be Grounded using copper
st rapping m at erial also should be perm anently m ount ed t o the floor of the Sit e using the holes in
the bot tom of the Cabinet .
Once the Cabinet is in place and the Trays are checked for dam age, the Main AC Hook- Up is ready
to be m ade. Before connecting the 230 VAC, m ake cert ain that all of the circuit breakers
associat ed wit h t he Translat or are swit ched Off. The Main AC I nput circuit t o the 2 kW Translator
should be an 80 Am p, 230 VAC line, using AWG 6 wire, inside of 1- 1/ 4" conduit .
The 230 VAC I nput connections are m ade to the Term inal Block TB1, which is part of ( A2) t he AC
Dist ribution Panel, locat ed facing the rear door of the Translator. Term inals 1 & 2 ( 230 VAC) and
Term inal 3 ( Chassis Ground) . Line 2 is t he Neutral for I nternational Syst em s using 220 VAC Hot
and Neut ral.
The RF Out put at J2 of ( A16) t he Coupler Assem bly, or the ( Optional) Trap Filt er ( A14) , which is
7/ 8" Rigid Coax, should connect t o t he Transm ission Line that is connected t o your Ant enna
System .
The On Channel RF I nput connects t o t he rear of t he ( A3) VHF/ UHF Receiver Tray at t he “F”
connect or J5 for 75Ω or t he “N” connect or J1 for 50Ω or t o the (Opt ional) ( A17) A/ V I nput &
