9. A controlled air bypass syst em m ust be installed t o prevent t he t em perat ure in the room
from falling below 40 degrees F during Translator operation.
10. The blower should have t wo speeds, which are t herm ost atically controlled, and int erlocked
wit h t he Translat or.
11. The blower on high speed m ust be capable of m oving t he required volum e of air into a half
inch of water pressure at t he required elevat ion. The free air delivery m et hod m ust not be
used.
12. Regular m aint enance of the filters can not be overem phasized.
13. Tube Translators should not rely on the int ernal blower for exhaust ing tube cooling air at
elevations above 4000 feet . For external vent ing, t he air vent on the cabinet t op m ust be
increased to 8" diam et er for a 1 kW Translator and to 10" for 5 kW & 10 kW Translators. An
equivalent rectangular duct m ay be used but in all cases the out let m ust be increased in
area by 50 % t hrough t he out let screen.
14. I t is recom m ended that a sit e plan be subm it t ed to Axcera for com m ent before inst allat ion
com m ences.
I n calculat ing the blower requirem ents, filt er size and exhaust size, use t he following guide. I f t he
total load is known in Wat ts, you will need 2000 CFM int o 1/ 2" of wat er for each 5000 Wat t s. I f
the load is known in BTU's you will need 2000 CFM int o 1/ 2" of wat er for each 17,000 BTU's. The
inlet filter m ust be seven square feet m inim um , larger for dust y and rem ot e locat ions, for each
5000 Wat t s or 17,000 BTU's. The exhaust m ust be at least four square feet at the exhaust screen
for each 5000 Wat t s or 17,000 BTU's. The above is a general guide and m ay need m odified for
unusually severe conditions.
A com bination of air conditioning and ventilat ion inst allat ion should not be difficult to design using
the above inform at ion. System int erlocking and therm ostat set t ings should be reviewed with
Axcera. As with any equipm ent installat ion it is always good pract ice t o consult the m anufact urer
when questions arise. Axcera m ay be contact ed at (724) 873-8100.
See t he drawing that follows for m ore inform at ion.
