For units t hat are supplied wit h a cabinet , rem ove t he Cabinet from the shipping cont ainer.
Rem ove the plast ic covering. I f the Trays are shipped separat ely, t he shipping m aterial m ust be
rem oved from the inside of the Cabinet before t he Trays are insert ed into t he Cabinet. Cut the
cable t ies or cord which hold t he Tray Harness breakouts to t he Tray Slides. Carefully rem ove t he
foam packing m at erial from around t he cables, connect ors and slides. Do not use a Knife or ot her
sharp obj ect as t hese m ay cut t he wires. Slide the Trays int o t he cabinet , if they are not already
m ounted. Check t hat t he cable breakouts for t he Trays are not caught in the Trays as t hey are
slid int o place.
I f the Trays are shipped m ounted in t he Cabinet , rem ove t he t wo m etal brackets which hold the
Trays in place during shipm ent. These are held in place by t wo screws and m ust be rem oved to
allow t he Trays to be pulled out for Test .
I f the Trays do not slide in and out of the cabinet sm oot hly, loosen t he hardware holding the slides
onto t he front of the cabinet and m ove t he Tray up or down t o stop it from rubbing. Ret ighten
after t he necessary adj ust m ents have been m ade.
Secure t he sm all cable ret ract ors, t ied t o t he m ain harness, t o t he rear of each Tray by sliding
them int o t he clip located there. Refer to t he rear view of the Trays for m ore details. Connect
the plugs of t he m ain harness t o t he corresponding Jack num bers on each Tray, st art ing wit h (A2)
the Upconverter/ Am plifier Tray. ( A1) is t he Receiver Tray. ( An Exam ple of the num bering is : 1 2
on t he cable from the m ain harness st ands for t he Receiver Tray A1, AC I nput Jack J2) .
After t he Trays have been inst alled and all harness connect ions have been m ade, connect t he
Main AC t o t he AC I nput Box locat ed at t he upper, right rear of t he Cabinet . 240 VAC, 30 Am p,
# 10 AWG, 4 wire is recom m ended. A Qualified Elect rician should do the Main AC I nst allat ion. The
AC I nput Plug for each Tray should be connect ed t o t he AC Out let Box.
I NSTALLATI ON OF A TRANSLATOR NOT SUPPLI ED WI TH A CABI NET
Two Tray slides are provided for t he 1 3/ 4" Receiver Tray and the 7" VHF Upconverter/ Am plifier
Tray. The Receiver Tray should be m ount ed under t he Upconverter/ Am plifier Tray. Locate the
Tray slides and inst all t he left slide int o the cabinet first . The left side slide is plain wit h no cable
ret ract or at tached. Mount t his slide ont o t he left side of the cabinet, looking from t he rear using
the bolt s and nuts provided. Refer to t he " Cabinet Mount ing I nst ruct ions For Tray Slides" drawing
for m ore details. Check that the slide is level from front t o back. NOTE: Allow a spacing of
approxim at ely 5 inches between t he end of the stationary sect ion of t he slide and t he rear
m ounting bar of t he cabinet to perm it norm al operat ion of t he cable ret ract ors.
I nst all the slides onto the right side of the cabinet, looking from t he rear. These slides connect
the end bracket , att ached to the m ain harness, t o t he stationary sect ion of the slide with two # 10
hex nut s provided. Now secure t he slide by connecting it t o the front and rear m ounting bars
using # 10 bolts and the bar nuts provided.
Connect t he plugs from the m ain harness t o the corresponding Jack num bers on each Tray.
( Exam ple: 2 1 m eans the VHF Upconverter/ Am plifier Tray A2, Jack J1) . Check t hat t he AC I nput
Plugs t o t he Trays are connected t o t he AC Outlet Box.
