Connect a UHF or VHF I nput with a Mult iburst Test signal applied, t hat is at t he desired Channel
Frequency, to J1 50Ω or J5 75Ω located on t he rear of t he ( A3) VHF/ UHF Receiver Tray. Check
that the On/ Off Switch located on t he rear of the Tray is On.
N ote : I f the Red LED, DS1 is lit, + 12 VDC is present at the input of t he Receiver Tray and m ay
dam age any t est equipm ent connect ed to it. Rem ove t he fuse F1, DS1 will not be lit, before
connect ing test equipm ent to the input j ack of the Receiver Tray.
( A7) UHF Filt er, DC Mult iplexed ( 1035- 1204, 50Ω or 1035- 1207, 75Ω ), VHF Filt er, LB, DC
Mult iplexed ( 1035-1902, 50Ω or 1035- 1903, 75Ω) or VHF Filter, HB, DC Multiplexed ( 2065- 1024,
50Ω or 2065-1023, 75Ω)
The input UHF or VHF signal (- 61 dBm to - 16 dBm ) is fed t o the filter which has been fact ory
swept for 6 MHz Bandwidth at t he Channel frequency and should not be t uned in t he field. The
output of t he filter is direct ed t o the J1 input of (A8) t he Dual St age Am plifier Assem bly.
( A8- A1) Dual St age Am plifier Board (1227-1501)
Mounted in: (A8) a Dual St age Am plifier Assem bly (1227- 1503) .
The Dual Stage Am plifier Board has been fact ory set t o t he channel frequency and cont ains no
cust om er t uning adjust m ents. The board has approxim ately + 13 dB or + 26 dB of gain, depending
on whether Jum per W1 on J5 is in place.
( A9) UHF Filt er ( 1007- 1101) , VHF LB Filter (1034-1202) or VHF HB Filter ( 2065- 1000)
The UHF or VHF Filter has been fact ory swept for 6 MHz Bandwidth at t he Channel Frequency and
should not be t uned in t he field. The output of the filt er ( - 50 dBm to - 5 dBm ) is fed eit her through
the addit ional am plifier st age on t he Variable Gain Am plifier Board or t o ( A10- A1) t he
Downconvert er/ Filt er Board.
( A4) Channel Oscillator Assem bly, Dual Oven ( 1145- 1202)
Contains: The Channel Oscillat or Board, Dual Oven (1145-1201).
1. Connect t he m ain out put of the Channel Oscillator ( J1) t o a spect rum analyzer, adj ust ed t o
view the cryst al frequency, and peak the t uning capacitors C6 and C18 for m axim um out put.
Then tune L2 and L4 for m axim um out put . The out put level should be approxim ately + 5
dBm and the Oven Tem perature should be m aint ained at 50° C.
I f a spect rum analyzer is not available, connect a DVM t o TP1 on t he x8, x4 or x2 Multiplier
Board. Tune capacitors C6 and C18 for m axim um volt age at TP1. Then tune L2 and L4 for
m axim um volt age at TP1.
2. Connect t he sam ple output of t he Channel Oscillat or at J2 to a suit able counter and tune
C11, Coarse Adj ust , and C9, Fine Adj ust , to t he cryst al frequency. Do not re- peak C6, C18,
L2 or L4 because this m ay change the out put frequency.
N ote : While adj ust ing C9 and C11 t o t he cryst al frequency the peak volt age m onit ored at TP1 of
the Mult iplier Board should not decrease. I f a decrease does occur a problem with the
cryst al is likely.
3. Reconnect t he m ain out put at J1 of t he Channel Oscillat or t o t he I nput Jack J1 of t he
Mult iplier Board.
