Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Ubiquiti Networks® UniFi® Video Camera G3 Micro. This Quick Start Guide is designed to guide you through installation and also includes warranty terms. Before You Begin The UVC G3 Micro is designed to work with the UniFi Video® controller software (v3.8 or above). The software may be hosted on either of the following: • The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi NVR appliance • A Linux or Windows computer Note: The latest UniFi Video software is available for free download at: www.ubnt.com/download/unifivideo The UVC G3 Micro can be powered by either of the following methods: • Using the included Instant PoE Adapter connected to an 802.
Hardware Overview LED Reset Magnetic Base LED The LED will flash blue during bootup. When the camera is ready to connect to the Wi-Fi network, the LED pattern will flash two times accompanied by two beep tones. Once connected to the network, the LED will glow with a steady breathing pattern. Note: LED patterns can be customized or disabled from within the UniFi Video software. State Status Alternating White/Blue Device is busy; do not touch or unplug it.
Installation The UVC G3 Micro can be mounted in four ways: • • • Magnetic For temporary installation Adhesive For fast, permanent installation Screws For secure installation • Table For installing on a flat surface such as a table or shelf Magnetic Mount 1. Remove the Base Mount from the Magnetic Base. Base Mount 2. Attach the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter to the Magnetic Base.
3. Attach the camera and Magnetic Base directly to a metal fixture. Go to Connecting the Power. Adhesive Mount 1. If the Power Adapter cord or PoE Adapter cord feeds through the wall, drill or cut a hole and feed the cord through it. 2. Remove the tab from the notch and attach the Wall Mount using the adhesive side.
3. Attach the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter to the Magnetic Base. 4. Attach the camera and Magnetic Base to the mount. If the power cord feeds through the Wall Mount, rotate the Magnetic Base to align the cord with the notch on the Wall Mount. Go to Connecting the Power.
Screw Mount 1. If the circular connector on the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter needs to connect through the wall, drill or cut a hole and feed the power connector through it. Wall Mount Angle Mount 2. Use the Screws and Screw Anchors to fasten the Wall Mount or the Angle Mount.
3. Attach the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter to the Magnetic Base. 4. Attach the camera and Magnetic Base to the mount. If the power cord feeds through the Wall Mount, rotate the Magnetic Base so the cord aligns with the notch on the Wall Mount. Go to Connecting the Power.
Table Mount 1. Feed the power connector (on the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter) through the hole in the Table Stand. 2. Attach the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter to the Magnetic Base. 3. Attach the Magnetic Base of the camera to the Table Stand by pressing it over the two notches and sliding it down.
In-Wall Mount 1. Cut a 15/8" (41 mm) hole in the wall or mounting surface where the camera will be set up. Then place the In-Wall Mount into the opening while feeding the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter through the front of the mount. 2. Secure the mount to the wall using the screw kit provided. Note: The In-Wall Mount should only be used in wood or other hard surfaces. Not recommended for drywall.
3. Attach the Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter to the Magnetic Base of the camera. Note: If the camera is currently attached to the Magnetic Base, please detach it. 4. Slide the Magnetic Base into the mount while feeding the excess portion of the power cord back into the wall.
5. Place the In-Wall Cover over the mount and press it along the edges until it snaps into place. 6. Place the camera over the In-Wall Cover and reattach it to the Magnetic Base.
Connecting the Power Follow the instructions for your method of powering the camera: Power Adapter or Instant PoE Adapter. Power Adapter Plug the Power Adapter into an outlet. Note: Use the included Cable Clips to hold the power cord in place. Remove the paper backing on each clip to expose the adhesive and affix to the desired location. Instant PoE Adapter 1. Install the Wall Mount on a wall or flat surface using the included screw kit.
2. Attach the power connector to the Magnetic Base of the camera. 3. Attach the Magnetic Base of the camera to the Wall Mount by pressing it over the two notches and sliding it down.
4. Place the Wall Mount Cover over the Magnetic Base and onto the Wall Mount until it snaps into place. Then mount the camera to the Magnetic Base. Attach Wall Mount Cover Mount Camera to Magnetic Base 5. Connect the Ethernet cable from an 802.3af PoE switch to the PoE In port of the Instant PoE Adapter. Note: Use the included Cable Clips to hold the power cord in place. Remove the paper backing on each clip to expose the adhesive and affix to a desired location.
Setting Up the UVC G3 Micro Ensure you are running the latest version of UniFi Video, v3.8 or above on the UniFi NVR or computer-based system. Download the UniFi Video User Guide for detailed information on how to set up and use UniFi Video: www.ubnt.com/download/unifivideo UniFi Video Mobile App For quick setup, a mobile app is available online via the App Store (iOS) and Google Play™ Store (Android). 1. Download and install the UniFi Video mobile app. 2.
4. The app will look for new UniFi Video cameras. 5. Any new cameras discovered by the mobile app will appear in the list on your screen. Tap Pair to begin the pairing process.
6. Once the camera has been paired, the app will attempt to discover any wireless networks in range of the camera. 7. Any nearby wireless networks discovered by the mobile app will appear on the list. Tap the network name that your NVR is connected to.
8. Enter the password for the wireless network you selected and tap Submit. UVC-Cams-Network UVC-Cams-Network 9. The new camera will be added to the wireless network and listed on the Cameras home screen in the app. Setup is complete. Repeat steps 1 to 9 for each additional camera you wish to set up.
