11. Shut off the system.
a. SettheON/OFFpowerswitchonthefrontpaneloftheunittoOFF.
WARNING
AC power is still present inside the unit.
• Fansandpumpaswellasallindicatorsturnoff.
• Thedisplaymayshowafaultcodeforamoment,thisisanormalpartofshuttingoffpoweranddoesnot
indicate a fault.
b. Open(turnoff)themainpowerdisconnect.Allpowerisnowremovedfromtheunit.
• RearpanelACindicatorturnsOFF.
Operational Suggestions
1. WaitfourminutesbeforesettingtheON/OFFswitchtoOFFafteroperation.Thisallowsthecoolingfanstorun
to dissipate operating heat from the power supply.
2. For maximum parts life, do not operate the pilot arc any longer than necessary.
3. Use care in handling torch leads and protect them from damage.
4. Whenusingwaterastheshieldnotethefollowing:
• Usecleandrinkingqualitytapwatertohelppreventparticulatebuild-upwithinthesystemwatershield
plumbing.
• Particulatecontaminationandbuild-upcancausereducedconsumablepartslifeandprematuretorchfailure.
• Acartridgetypeparticulatewaterltermayhelpachieveoptimumcuttingperformance.
4.03 Gas Selection
A. Plasma Gases
1. Air Plasma
• Mostoftenusedonferrousorcarbonbasematerialsforgoodqualityatfastercuttingspeeds.
• Airplasmaisnormallyusedwithairshield.
• Onlyclean,dryairisrecommendedforuseasplasmagas.Anyoilormoistureintheairsupplywill
substantially reduce torch parts life.
• Providessatisfactoryresultsonnonferrousmaterials.
2. Argon/Hydrogen(H35)Plasma
• Recommendedforuseon3/4in(19mm)andthickerstainlesssteel.Recommendedfor1/2inch(12mm)
andthickernonferrousmaterials.Ar/H2isnotnormallyusedforthinnernonferrousmaterialsbecause
lessexpensivegasescanachievesimilarcutquality.
• Poorcutqualityonferrousmaterials.
• Providesfastercuttingspeedsandhighcutqualityonthickermaterialstooffsetthehighercost.
• A65%argon/35%hydrogenmixtureshouldbeused.
3. Oxygen (O2) Plasma
• Oxygenisrecommendedforcuttingferrousmaterials.
• Providesfastercuttingspeeds.
• Providesverysmoothnishesandminimizesnitridebuilduponcutsurface(nitridebuildupcancause
difcultiesinproducinghighqualityweldsifnotremoved).
