104 Transfer Lost
Arc transferred to metal for at least 50 ms. then went out.
Causesfor104code:
• Cutdemandsetmuchlowerthanrecommendedfortorchparts,i.e.100Aconsumablesintorchbutcut
current set for 30 or 50A (or zero). Current may be too low to keep arc on.
• Torchstandofftoohighforcuttingprocessbeingused.
• PlasmagasowtoolowduetoaleaksomewherebetweentheplasmaregulatorortheDPC3000andthe
torch. Check for leaks.
• Remoteanalogcurrentcontrolswitchessetwrong.
o Ifremoteanalogcurrentcontrolisbeingused,SW8-2(CCMCPUPCB)isonandSW11(CCMI/O
PCB)issetto“A”(down)position,butnoanalogvoltageconnectedtoTB1-10orJ15-30(CNCcable)
then cut demand will be zero, pilot will be weak, depending on torch height it may still transfer but
will immediately go out.
o IfremoteanalogcurrentcontrolisnotbeingusedbuteitherSW11issettothedownpositionorSW8-2
is on also results in zero cut demand.
o IfsystemisAuto-CutXT,currentcontrolisananalogvoltagefromtheGCM1000XTortheAC200
XTfrontpanelpot.Thecurrentcontrolsettingwillbeshownonthefrontpanel4digitdisplay.SW8-
2shouldbeoffandSW11settoupposition.Withpotatmax,checkfor3.3VonCCMI/OPCBTP9
(TP1common).WhileturningthepottowardminimumTP9voltageshouldvarylinearlytozeroV.

withSW8-1on(usedforcuttingoverholes,expandedmetal,etc.).Arcmusttransferbeforepilottimeends.
Code106issetifnoarctransfer(currentinworklead)wassensedbeforepilottimedout.Iftheunitdoesnot
detectpilotcurrentthearcstarterwilloperateupto15secondsthensetthe102code.Ifyouaregetting106there
ispilotcurrentsomewhere.Ifit’snotvisibleperhapsit’sinsidetheconsumablesorfollowingsomeotherpart.
Causesfor106code:
No Pilot Visible:
• Pilotinsidetheconsumables
Visible Pilot:
• Firsttheobvious,makesuretheworkleadisconnectedbothtotheworkandthepowersupply.Also
make sure the work itself is making good electrical contact with cutting table. If rusty or painted metal,
you may need to clean a spot and attach the work lead directly to the metal.
• Torchtoofarfromwork.
