Status codes.
ThecodesforthepowersupplyaredisplayedontheDisplayPCB4digitnumericaldisplay.Somecodesreferto
theGasControlsbutmoredetailedGasControlcodeswillbefoundontheindividualgascontrols.Thegascon-
trolsusedwiththeXTfamilyofplasmasupplieshavenotchanged.Theyhavetheirownsetofstatuscodeswhich
shouldbecoveredinanothersection.ThisguideassumesyouhaverstconsideredtheStatusCodeTablesinthe
OperationSectionoftheunitmanual.Individualcodeswillpointtodifferentinvertersectionswhilethisguide
groupssimilarcodestogether.ForexamplecodeE(orL)249indicatesaninverterfaultinInverter2A.Thisguide
coverscodes247-252inonesectionastheyareallthesame,varyingonlybywhichinverterandsectiontheyreferto.
Thecodesareseparatedinto6groups.
Group 1 PlasmaProcess--Relatingtopilot,transfer,torchvoltages,etc.
Group 2 PlasmaPowerSupply--PrimarilytheInverterSections
Group 3 Interface to Gas controls -- Mainly the DFC 3000
Group4 CoolingSystem--Theliquidcoolingsystemforthetorchandinverters
Group 5 CCM -- Communications port to the gas controls

totheoldercodesusedinpreviousunits,where1-1isnow101.Forthemostpartthecodeshavethesamemeaning.
WhereanoldercodenolongerappliestotheXTsystemwedon’tuseitoveragainandhaveleftitreservedtoavoid
confusion.Forexamplethecode204(2-4)whichmeanttheinvertermodulewasn’tready.Wenowdetectthaterror
inadifferentwaythathasasomewhatdifferentmeaningsowehavereservedthe204Code.
Whilemostofthecodesindicateafaulthasoccurred,afewofthem,suchas304(formerly3-4),simplyreferto
thecurrentstatus.304indicateseither“priming”wherethepumpisllingthesystemwithcoolantormoreoften
“purging”wherethegasisowingtodrytheconsumablesafterreplacingthemorpurgingthegaslineswhena
different gas type has been selected.
Troubleshooting (General)
In many cases where the cause may be listed as a cable or wire disconnected but also includes loose or broken.
AllRibboncableshaveanextrareceptaclenearoneendformeasuringsignalsonthecable.
A number of the measurements will require probing of some small connectors or measuring signal on ribbon cables.
Forprobingthesmallconnectors,standardmeterprobesareusuallytoobig.Wesuggestmakingacoupleprobes
usingsteelwire.Copperbusswireisn’tstiffenough.Apaperclipisalittletoobig.Oneideaistakeasocketfrom
anAmpmate-n-locorsimilarconnectorintowhichyourmeterprobewilltandcrimpasmallpieceofsteelwire,
(0.020to0.025”dia.;(0.5-0.6mm)worksbest),intowherewirewouldnormallybecrimped.Thewireshouldbe
soldered and crimped. The steel wire may be found in hobby stores that cater to model building.

Insulate all but the end of the wire and slide these onto your meter probe. If your meter has alligator clip adaptors
youcouldholdthewireintheseaswell,besuretheydon’tshorttogether.
Problems that do not set Status or Fault codes:
1. AtpoweronGASLEDblinkscontinuously,nocodeset.Realproblemisnoorlowcoolantowbutittakes
4minutesbeforecodeissetandpeopledon’twaitthatlong.
