Turnigy Mobius 2-Axis Gimbal with Tarot Controller and AX2206 Motors –

BadgerJed setup lessons learnt

This was my first brushless gimbal but I have used a few different

multirotor controllers so I had the general idea. That said it was still a bit

tricky and required a bit of ‘googling’ to find all the pieces of the puzzle.

Very happy with the end result though.

Steps:

1) I built the framework as per the Turnigy instructions with only one

minor issue, one of the plastic screws sheared off in the plastic spacer

and had to be drilled out and re-tapped. Luckily I had a spare screw

from a previous build. Lesson learnt if the plastic screw feels a bit tight

run a tap down it first rather than shearing it off!

2) I also mounted the sensor at 90° to that given in the Turnigy

instruction because the software showed the sensor output swapped: -

tilt for roll and roll for tilt.

3) I wired up the servos as per the Tarot Instructions not the Turnigy instructions as it was going mad when I connected it as per the Turnigy instructions. I connected the motor this way. I could not get it to work with the motors this way, again it did not follow the software. 4) I also added a blob of glue from the hot glue gun to the point where the power cable meets the circuit board, the bare bits of wire were a bit too long for my liking and I had read a few comments about them shorting out.

TIP: -Don’t forget to plug the USB programmer into the Motor or gimbal connectors as required! TIP: - Once you have it working roughly right fit your camera to confirm he final settings, the gimbal has a different behaviour with the weight of the camera! My settings are as follows:
