Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are
connected to the product.
Ensure that the board is put into operation correctly. Therefore, please follow the
operating instructions carefully.
The board may not be installed in/on easily ammable materials.
In commercial and industrial facilities the regulations for the prevention of accidents
as laid down by the professional trade association for electrical equipment and
devices must be observed.
In schools and training centres as well as in hobby and DIY workshops, the use
of boards must be supervised by adequately trained personnel in a responsible
manner.
Never pour any liquids on the board. There is a risk that the board will be damaged.
Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the
device.
Maintenance, modications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an
expert or at a qualied shop.
If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
Assembly
Before commissioning of the relay circuit board “without relay” a suitable relay has to be
soldered in. For soldering in the following tools and equipment are necessary:
- soldering iron with a damp cleaning sponge
- electronic tin-solder
- small at pliers as well as
- electronic side-cutting pliers
- a heat-resistant rubber pad is recommended as base on which to work
In principle, the installation is done on the top of the circuit board (with the assembly print).
Soldering is done on the back of the board.
During the board assembly ensure that the relay’s connection wires are bent by about 45°
after the relay is inserted. This prevents the relay from falling off when the board is turned
around.
Switch on your soldering iron or soldering station and heat up to about 320 to 400 °C (in
accordance with the tin-solder being used, plumbiferous/lead-free).
Ensure that the soldering iron is placed safely! Burn and re hazard!
Soldering
Please solder carefully. The soldering iron and the tip are very hot and cause serious
burns in contact with the skin.
Keep soldering irons away from children!
Do not leave warm or hot soldering irons unattended. Fire hazard!
After the circuit board has been equipped, the connections can be soldered.
When soldering always ensure a clean soldering tip. Clean it on a damp cleaning sponge
before every joint.
The soldering should only take as long as necessary and be as quick as possible. Heat up
the soldering spot and the connection pins with the soldering tip and immediately add a little
solder.
Wait until the solder has melted completely and
remove the soldering tip. The joint should be cone-
shaped and shiny. (See illustration).
Remove the overlapping pins above the joint with the electronic-side pliers. Observe the pin
ends not to y away; risk of injury!
Check the joint again for cleanliness and for accidental short circuits.
Commissioning and Operation
Before using the product, please read the complete operating instructions thoroughly
in order to ensure its proper functioning!
Only connect boards that are voltage free. Make sure that all circuit board
components and connection cables are not carrying any voltage.
Connection of the Relay Circuit Board
The operating voltage (= relay coil voltage) of the circuit board is provided via the strip
terminal labelled “IN”. Please observe the correct polarity. + = positive pole, - = negative pole.
The circuit board is only to be operated with direct current.
Connection of the switch contacts is done via the clamps “CO/NC/NO”
CO = shared switch contact (contact 11 or 21).
NC = switch output “Opener”. Closed when not operated (contact 12 or 22).
NO = switch output “Closer”. Opened when not operated (contact 14 or 24).
The specications of the switching capacity can be obtained from the technical
description.
Operating instructions
Relay, Printed Circuit Board REL-PCB 2
Item no. 1564938 without relay
Item no. 1571265 with relay 12 V/DC
Item no. 1571948 with relay 24 V/DC
Intended use
The relay circuit boards are used to hold printed relays with a coil voltage of 4 - 30 V/DC. The
board version “without relay” is used as a universal part to be equipped with a range of circuit
board relays with the corresponding schematic diagram (the list with the suitable relays is to be
found in the Conrad Electronic’s product range, at www.conrad.com). The version “with relay” is
already equipped with a relay for the corresponding nominal operating voltage. Easy mounting
on the circuit board is made possible by screw contacts. The maximum switching capacity must
not exceed the limits given in the technical description.
The board must be installed in a casing where it is completely protected from accidental
touching.
Assembly and commissioning may only be carried out by a specialist, who is familiar with the
relevant regulations and the ensuing risks.
Mounting on DIN rails is possible using to optional additional components (An overview of the
optional equipment is available at www.conrad.com).
In order to align multiple relay circuit boards on a module carrier, spacers (item No. 503340)
are to be used between the individual circuit boards, to comply with electrical safety rules and
the lack of space.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use
the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged.
In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc.
Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only
together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company
