TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL
ADJUSTMENT
Followthis procedureto adjust neutral
onthetransmission.
1. Stopengine, waitforall partsto
stopmoving,anddisconnectspark
plug wire.
2. Rotateshift rod (I, Figures5-14 and
5-15) clockwise until it stops in the neu-
tral (N) position (from forward gear
positions).
3. Hold down OperatorPresenceControl
(M, Figure5-13) andpushunitforward
and backward.Unitshould movefreely.
If not, continuewith Step4.
4. Removecotter pin securingshift link
(P, Figure5-15) to shift rod (I).
5. Moveshift arm (X) backandforth as
necessaryinto eachdetentuntil trans-
mission is in neutral.NOTE:Moving
shift arm (X)clockwiseallthe wayto the
left, andthenonenotch backcounter-
clockwise,shouldputtransmission into
neutral.Whentransmissionis in neutral,
unit will movefreelywhen pushedwhile
holdingthe OperatorPresenceControl
lever down. If transmission is NOTin
neutral,therewill bea slight drag onthe
wheelswhenpushingunit.
8. Whenshift arm (X)is in neutral posi-
tion, rotateshift link (P) until hooked
endfits backintohole in bottom endof
shift rod (I). NOTE:Shift rod (I) must be
held in the neutral position (seeFigure
5-14) while shift link (P) is adjusted.
7. Secureshift link (P) into shift rod (I)
with cotter pin removedearlier.
8. Re-checkneutral by pushing unit
backandforth andshifting lever (I) from
reverseto neutral.A smallfine-tune
adjustmentmaybe required.
