1. Removeanypackingmaterialwhichmaybebetween
upperand lowerhandles.
a. Pullupand backon upperhandleas shownin

crimpcane while liftingthe handleup.
b. Tightenstarknobsto secureupperhandleto
lowerhandle.Makesure thateach carriagebolt is
seatedproperlyin the handle.
2. Locatethe hairpinclipon the weldpinon eachside of
lowerhandle.
a. Removehairpinclipfromthis hole.Usinga pair
of pliers,inserthairpinclip into the holeon pin
closestto the bracket,Figure3-2. Repeatonother
side.
b. Inserta carriagebolt fromthe hardwarepackinto
the upperholeon thehandlemountingbracket.
Securewithoneplasticwing nut,also included
inthe hardwarepack.Repeatonotherside with
remainingitemsfromhardwarepack.
3. The ropeguideis attachedto the right sideof the
upperhandle,Figure3-3. Loosenthewing nutwhich
securesthe ropeguide.
a. Holdbladecontrolhandleagainstupperhandle.
b. Pullstarterropeoutof the engine.Releaseblade
controlhandle.
c. Slipstarterropeintoropeguide.
d. Tightenwingnut.
4. Insertpostoncane ties into holesprovidedon the
lowerhandle.Pullcane tiestightandtrimexcess,
