Explore the functions
The IRIS units can be used for supervising and controlling external devices. It is vital that the
IRIS units confi gured carefully for optimal function. To get the most out of the IRIS units and
the IRIS systems it is important to understand the functions.
Connections
The IRIS units communicate with each other, via radio networks, and with other device, th-
rough inputs, outputs and serial interfaces.
Inputs
The IRIS Starter kit unit have six inputs that can be either analogue or digital depending on
the confi guration. Every input has a button for simulating input values and a connection, for
connecting external devices such as switches, sensors and transducers.
Outputs
The IRIS Starter kit unit have four digital outputs. Every output has a diode, which presents
the current status of the output, and a connection, for connecting the IRIS unit to other devi-
ces.
Serial interface
The IRIS Starter kit units handles both RS-232 and RS-485, both half and full duplex, de-
pending on the confi guration. It is possible to setup the IRIS units to match the interface of
external units.
Radio interface
The IRIS Starter kit units communicate with each other via radio links on the 433Mhz band,
and in some countries on the 439 MHz band. It is possible to change frequencies so that dif-
ferent IRIS systems in the same area do not interfere with each other.
