4.10 Digital Multimeter
The CamView IP Pro-D has a built-in Digital Multimeter (DMM). It can measure AC/DC Voltage,
AC/DC Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Diode Forward Voltage, and Circuit Continuity.
STEP 1: Power Up the Tester
Press the Power Button on the side of your Tester to turn it on if it is not already powered on.
STEP 2: Connect the Probes to the Tester
Remove the probes from the Tester bag and connect them in the appropriate ports on the front of
the Tester. The Tester is both LABELLED and COLOR CODED for your convenience. Be sure to
plug the probes into the correct ports for what you intend to test (e.g., if you intend to test Current,
the RED probe would be plugged into the second port from the left, and the BLACK probe would
be plugged into the third port from the left). An easy way to remember is that Black is always
ground/negative and Red is always live/positive. Always plug the Tester end first before you place
the test probes against/into whatever you are attempting to test.
WARNING
Failure to properly connect the probes can result in
personal injury, fire, or catastrophic damage to the Tester.
STEP 3: Select the Digital Multimeter Screen
On the Main Menu, highlight “Digital Multimeter” (press the MODE button to enter the Main Menu
if you are not already on it; press the Up or Down Arrow Keys to highlight it). Once the Digital
Multimeter option is highlighted, press the Right Arrow Key to access the Digital Multimeter screen.
STEP 4: Select the Test Type
While on the Digital Multimeter screen, press the ¡ ¢ keys to select the test you want to run.
You will see the Test Type Selector (see #60 in the diagram on the next page) highlight the test
in GREEN as you arrow through the options. The symbols are: DC Voltage (V), AC Voltage (V
~
),
DC Current (A), AC Current (A

), Resistance (W), Capacitance (-||-), Diode Forward Voltage (

or Continuity ( ) test.
