What is GPS?
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based positioning
system operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). A
constellation of operational NAVSTAR satellites orbit the earth every
12 hours, providing worldwide, all-weather, 24-hour time and
position information.
