The main oven
Heat zones
There are zones of heat within the oven. The
temperature in the middle is the gas mark you
have chosen. The top of the oven is slightly hotter
and the lower shelf slightly cooler. The base of the
oven is quite a lot cooler. You can make use of
these heat zones when you are cooking foods
requiring different temperatures all at the same
time.
If you are cooking more than one tray of similar
items, for example cakes or biscuits, swap the
trays during cooking or you can remove the top
tray when the food is cooked and move the lower
tray to the higher shelf to finish cooking.
Preheating
When you need to preheat the oven, we
recommend you do so for 20 minutes.
For recipes needing high temperatures, e.g. bread,
pastries, scones, soufflés etc., best results are
achieved if the oven is preheated first. To ensure
optimal performance when cooking convenience
foods, pizza or frozen and chilled ready meals,
always preheat the oven first.
To fit the main oven shelves
The shelf should be fitted with the straight rods
uppermost on the frame and the forms towards
the back of the oven.
To remove a shelf slide the shelf towards you
until the shelf stop is reached. Tilt shelf up at
the front so that the stops clear the side
supports. Lift shelf clear.
To install a shelf, reverse the above steps.
Using the main oven
Fully open the door before lighting the main oven.
Push in the control
knob and turn it to gas
