Updating ServerProtect 5
If you have previously installed ServerProtect version 5.0 or above, there are two
ways to update the existing ServerProtect components (program files, scan engine,
and virus pattern file). The efficient way is to use the Management Console, however
you can also use the setup program containing the updated ServerProtect version.
Note: During an update process, any running tasks will be stopped.
To update ServerProtect 5 components, choose one of the following:
• Through the Management Console:
a. Download available updates. See Downloading Updates on page 3-18 to plan
how you will download the update(s).
b. Deploy the updates. See Deploying Updates on page 3-24 to plan how you
will deploy the update(s).
• Through the setup program:
a. Run the updated ServerProtect setup program from the CD-ROM. Setup will
detect previously installed versions of ServerProtect.
b. Update ServerProtect. See Installing ServerProtect on page 2-9 for detailed
instructions.
