In the focus settings ( p.62), select [ ]. The approximate distance is displayed on the screen. Use the jog dial to focus the shot. The focus is locked. To re-focus the shot, use the jog dial.
Using Exposure Bias When there is a large difference (contrast) between the brightness of the subject and the background, or when the subject makes up only a very small part of the image, you can use exposure bias (see “Glossary” p.197) to get the correct image brightness (exposure). The exposure bias values range from –2.0 to +2.0 and can be set in 1/3-EV increments. 1 Set the camera to recording mode and move the OK button to . The exposure bias icon and current exposure value appear.
Using the Backlight Compensation Function In shots where a lot of light enters the camera, such as shots taken facing towards the light source, the subject may appear too dark. Shooting with Natural Color Tones (White Balance) When you take pictures under a range of different light sources, you can use the white balance (see “Glossary” p.198) setting to obtain more natural-looking colors. POINT • If the stored white balance setting is unsuitable, you can use presets to manually set the white balance. ATTENTION • If you use a setting other than [AUTO] and the selected setting does not match the light source, the color tones may appear unnatural.
