1. Read Instructions- All the safety and operatinginstructions
should be read before the applianceis operated.
2. RetainInstructions-The safety and operating instructionsshould
be retainedfor future reference.
3. Heed Warnings- All warningson the applianceand in the
operatinginstructionsshould be adhered to.
4. Followinstructions- All operatingand use instructionsshould be
followed.
5. Cleaning - Unplugthis productfrom the wall outlet beforecleaning.
Do not use liquidcleaners or aerosolcleaners. Usea damp cloth
for cleaning.
EXCEPTION:A productthat is meant for uninterruptedservice
and, that for some specificreason,such as the possibilityof the
loss of an authorizationcode for a CATV converter,is not intended
to be unpluggedby the user for cleaningor any otherpurpose,
may excludethe reference to unpluggingthe applianceinthe
cleaningdescriptionotherwise requiredin item 5.
6. Attachments- Do not use attachmentsnot recommendedby the
product manufactureras they may cause hazards.
7. Water and Moisture-Donot usethis product nearwater,for
example,near a bath tub, wash bowl,kitchen sink,or laundrytub,
in a wet basement, or neara swimmingpool, and the like.
8. Accessories - Do not place this producton an unstablecart, stand,
tripod, bracket,or table. The productmay fall, causing serious
injury to a child or adult, and serious damageto the appliance.
Use only with a cart. stand,tripod, bracket, or table recommended
by the manufacturer,or soldwith the product.Any mountingof the
applianceshouldfollow the manufacturer's PORTABLECARTWARNING
instructionsand should use a mounting (symbo_p RETAC)
accessory recommendedby the
manufacturer.An applianceand cart
combinationshould be movedwith care.
Quickstops, excessiveforce, and uneven
surfacesmay cause the appliance and cart Sa2sA"
combinationto overturn.
9. Ventilation - Slots and openings in the cabinet are providedfor
ventilationand to ensure reliableoperationof the productand to
protect it fromoverheating,and these openingsmust notbe
blockedor covered.The openingsshould never be blockedby
placingthe producton a bed, sofa,rug, or othersimilar surface.
This productshould not be placed in a built-in installationsuch as
a bookcaseor rackunless properventilation is provided or the
manufacturer'sinstructionshave been adhered to.
10. PowerSources - This productshould be operatedonly fromthe
type ofpower sourceindicatedon the marking label Jfyou are not
sure of the type of powersupplyto your home, consuityour
appliancedealeror localpower company.For products intended
to operatefrom battery power, or othersources, referto the
operatinginstructions.
11. Grounding or Polarization- This product isequipped with a
polarizedalternating-currentline plug (a plug having one blade
wider than the other). This plugwill fit into the power outletonly
one way. This is a safetyfeature. If you are unableto insertthe
plugfully intothe outlet,try reversingthe plug. Ifthe plugshould
still failto fit, contact your electricianto replaceyour obsolete
outlet.Do not defeat the safety purposeof the polarizedplug.
12. PowerCord Protec%n - Powersupplycords shouldbe routedso
that they are notlikely to be walked on or pinchedby items placed
upon or againstthem, paying particular attention to cords at plugs,
conveniencereceptacles,and the pointwherethey exit fromthe
appliance.
13. Outdoor AntennaGrounding- Ifan outsideantenna or cable
systemis connectedto the product, be sure the antennaor cable
systemis grounded so as toprovide someprotectionagainst
voltage surges and built-upstatic charges.Article 810 of the
NationalElectricalCode, ANSI/NFPA No.70, providesinformation
with regardto proper groundingof the mastand supporting
structure,groundingof the lead-in wire to an antennadischarge
unit, size of groundingconductors, locationof antenna-discharge
unit, connectionto groundingelectrodes,and requirementsfor the
groundingelectrode. (Fig.A)

14. Lightning- Foradded protection for this productduring a lightning
storm, or whenit is left unattendedand unused for longperiods of
time, unplugit from the wall outlet and disconnectthe antenna or
cable system.This will preventdamageto the productdue to
lightningand power-linesurges.
15. Power Lines- An outside antenna systemshould not be locatedin
the vicinityof overheadpowerlines or otherelectric light or power
circuits, or where it can fall intosuch powerlines or circuits.When
installingan outside antennasystem,extreme care shouldbe
taken to keepfromtouching such power linesor circuits ascontact
with them mightbe fatal.
16. Overloading- Donot overload wall outletsand extension cords as
this can resultin a risk of fire or electricshock.
17. Objectand Liquid Entry- Neverpush objectsof any kind intothis
product through anyopenings as they maytouch dangerous
voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or
electric shock.Never spill liquidof any kindon the product.
18. Servicing - Do not attemptto servicethis productyourself as
openingor removing covers mayexpose you to dangerousvoltage
or other hazards.Referall servicingto qualified service personnel.
19. Damage RequiringService - UnpDg this productfromthe wall
outlet and refer servicingto qualifiedservice personnelunder the
followingconditions:
a. Whenthe power-supplycord or plug isdamaged.
b. If liquid hasbeen spilled, or objects havefallen into the product.
c. Ifthe product hasbeen exposed to rain orwater.
d. If the productdoes notoperate normally by followingthe operating
instructions.Adjust only those controlsthat arecovered by the
operatinginstructionsas an improper adjustmentof other controls
may result in damageand will often require extensivework by a
qualifiedtechnician to restorethe productto its normaloperation.
e. If the producthas been dropped or damagedin any way.
f. Whenthe productexhibits a distinct change in performancethis
indicates a needfor service.
20. ReplacementParts- When replacementparts are required,be
sure the servicetechnician has usedreplacementparts specified
by the manufactureror havethe same characteristicsas the
original part. Unauthorizedsubstitutions may resultin fire, electric
shock or otherhazards.
21. Safety Check- Uponcompletion ofany service or repairsto this
product, askthe servicetechnicianto performsafety checks to
determinethat the productis in properoperatingcondition.
22. Heat- This product shouldbe situated awayfrom heat sources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves, or otherproducts
(incDding amplifiers)that produce heat.
