Class 9. If you ship batteries with transportation companies, use original packaging with
respective warning labels. Private transportation is not affected by regulation. Ensure that
the battery is stored in a way that the battery casing is not damaged during transport.
• Inadditiontotheseselectedwarnings,pleasecomplywiththecompleteoperatingmanual.

There follows a selection of the most important instructions for handling Torqeedo Travel
motors. Apart from these instructions, please observe the complete operating manual to
prevent damage to or by your motor.
• Onlyrunthemotorwhenthepropellerisunderwater.Ifitisrunintheairforlongerperi-
ods, the shaft sealant rings that seal the motor to the drive shaft may become damaged.
• TheTravel503/1003modelsareprotectedagainstdirtandwatertoprotectiontypeIP67
(DIN ISO 60529) (30 minutes under water at a depth of 1 meter).
• Afteruse,alwaystakethemotoroutofthewater.Thetiltmechanismcanbeusedfor
this.
• Afteroperationinsaltyorbrackishwater,washallcomponentsinfreshwater.
• Usecontactspraytocareforallelectroniccontactseverytwomonths.
• Exceptwhenchargingthechargingsocketmustalwaysbecovered.Todosoplease
use the flap fixed to the socket.
• Youextendthelifespanofyourbatteryifyoudonotexposeittohotenvironmentsfor
longer than necessary.
• Complywiththefollowingrulesifyouarestoringyourbatteryforalongerperiodof
time. Storage for around six months: Charging level when stored 50%. Storage for a
whole year: Charging level when stored 100%. If the battery is to be stored for several
years the charging level should be checked once a year in order to prevent the battery
from deep discharging.
• Ifthemotorhasmalfunctionsanerrorcodeisshownonthedisplay.Afterresolvingthe
error the motor can be restarted again from the stop-position of the tiller. Depending on
theerrorcodedisplayeditmaybenecessarytoswitchthemotoroffusingthe“on/off”
button on the tiller. You find descriptions and details in the “Error messages/trouble
shooting“ chapter in this operating manual.
• Donotleavethemotorinthewaterwhentheboatismovedbyotherdrives(e.g.while
sailing, towing the boat) to prevent damage to the electronics.
• Fullychargetheequipmentbeforetherstuseinordertocalibratethechargelevelindicator.
