CheckingforLooseBladesorDamaged
SpringDiscWashers
1.Placeawrenchonthebladeboltandtorqueto45-55
ftlb(61-75N-m).
2.Withthewrenchstillonthebladebolt,holdthe
bladespindlestationaryandusingaragorthickly
paddedglove,trytorotatetheblade.Iftheblade
rotatesrelativetothespindleguardwithoutfurther
tighteningthebladebolt,thespringdiscwasherhas
beenattenedordamagedandtheboltandwasher
assemblymustbereplaced(Figure46).Referto
theRemovingtheBladesandInstallingtheBlades
section.
3.Oncethebladehasbeenremoved,inspectthespring
discwasher.Ifthewasherappearstobedamaged
(thewashersurfacehasbeenmarred)orattened,
theboltandwasherassemblymustbereplaced.
RemovingtheBlades
Thebladesmustbereplacedifasolidobjectishit,
ifthebladeisoutofbalance,orthebladeisbent.
Toensureoptimumperformanceandcontinued
safetyconformanceofthemachine,usegenuineToro
replacementblades.Replacementbladesmadebyother
manufacturersmayresultinanunsafemachine.
Holdthebladeendusingaragorthickly-paddedglove
(orplaceawrenchonthetopsheavenut).Removethe
bladeboltandwasherassembly,washer,andbladefrom
thespindleshaft(Figure46).

1.Usealetosharpenthecuttingedgeatbothends
oftheblade(Figure47).Maintaintheoriginalangle.
Thebladeretainsitsbalanceifthesameamountof
materialisremovedfrombothcuttingedges.

2.Checkthebalanceofthebladebyputtingitona
bladebalancer(Figure48).Ifthebladestaysina
horizontalposition,thebladeisbalancedandcanbe
used.Ifthebladeisnotbalanced,lesomemetaloff
theendofthesailareaonly(Figure48).Repeatthis
procedureuntilthebladeisbalanced.

AlwaysinstalltheoriginalToroblades,washers
andbladeboltsasshown.
LevelingtheMowerDeck
Themowerbladesmustbelevelfromsidetoside.
Checktheside-to-sidelevelanytimeyouinstallthe
mowerorwhenyouseeanunevencutonyourlawn.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengage
thebladecontrolswitch.
