CleaningandStorage
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengagethe
blade-controlswitch.
2.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeisengaged,shutoffthe
engine,removethekey,andwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.
4.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideoftheengine
cylinder-headnsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithamild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
nearthecontrolpanel,undertheseat,aroundthe
engine,hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
5.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page27).
6.Greaseandoilthemachine;refertoLubrication(page
27).
7.Changethecrankcaseoilandlter;refertoChanging
theEngineOilandOilFilter(page29).
8.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page35).
9.Chargethebattery;refertoChargingtheBattery(page
34).
10.Checktheconditionoftheblades;refertoServicing
theCuttingBlades(page36).
11.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-useoccurs
over30days.Preparethemachineforstorageas
follows.
12.Addapetroleum-basedstabilizer/conditionerto
thefuelinthetank.Followthemixinginstructions
fromthestabilizermanufacturer.Donotusean
alcohol-basedstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismosteffective
whenmixedwithfreshfuelandusedatalltimes.
A.Runtheenginetodistributetheconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
B.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,anddrain
thefueltank.
C.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
D.Choketheengine.Startandruntheengineuntilit
doesnotstart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recyclepursuantto
localcodes.
Important:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover30days.
13.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckitscondition;
refertoServicingtheSparkPlug(page31).Withthe
sparkplug(s)removedfromtheengine,pour30ml
(2tablespoons)ofengineoilintothesparkplughole.
Usethestartertocranktheengineanddistributethe
oilinsidethecylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donot
installthewireonthesparkplug(s).
14.Cleananydirtandchafffromthetopofthemower.
15.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirtfromthe
undersideofthemower,thenwashthemowerwith
agardenhose.
16.Checktheconditionofthedriveandmowerbelts.
17.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatiswornordamaged.
18.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
19.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
inamemorableplace.Coverthemachinetoprotect
itandkeepitclean.
