ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthemachine
fromthenormaloperatingposition.
Toensureasuperiorqualityofcut,keepthebladessharp.For
convenientsharpeningandreplacement,keepextrablades.
DANGER
Wornordamagedbladescanbreakandapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator’s
orbystander’sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladesperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replacewornordamagedblades.
InspectingtheBlades
1.Removethemower;refertoRemovingtheMower.
2.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure41).Iftheedgesare
notsharporhavenicks,removethebladesandsharpen
them;refertoSharpeningtheBlades.

3.Inspecttheblades,especiallythebentedges(Figure
41).Ifyounoticeanywearordamageinthisarea,
immediatelyinstallnewblades.
4.Iftheshearpinsarebroken,replacethemimmediately
(Figure41).
Important:Iftheshearpinsarebroken,themowerbelt
maybedamaged.Inspectthebelt;refertoAdjusting
theBladeDriveBelt.
RemovingtheBlades
1.Removethemower;refertoRemovingtheMower.
2.Carefullytipthemowerover.
3.Removethebolts,washers,andblades(Figure41).
Wedgeablockofwoodbetweeneachbladeandthe
mowertolockthebladewhenyouareremovingeach
bolt.
Note:Therightbladehasaleft-handthreadedbolt.
4.Inspectallparts;replaceanythatarewornordamaged.
SharpeningtheBlades
1.Usealetosharpenthecuttingedgeatbothendsof
eachblade(Figure42).
Note:Maintaintheoriginalangle.Thebladeretains
itsbalanceifyouremovethesameamountofmaterial
frombothcuttingedges.

2.Checkthebalanceofeachbladebyputtingitona
bladebalancer(Figure43).
Note:Ifthebladestaysinahorizontalposition,the
bladeisbalancedandcanbeused.Ifthebladeisnot
balanced,lesomemetaloffthebacksideoftheblade.
Repeatthisstepuntileachbladeisbalanced.

1.Installtheblades,washers,andbladebolts(Figure41).
Important:Ensurethattherightandleftblades
areinstalledintheproperpositionswiththebent
edgesofthebladespointingtowardthetopofthe
mowertoensurepropercutting.

44).
